Every October, the world turns pink. Ribbons on lapels, pink lights on buildings, pink packaging on store shelves. But for me, pink doesn’t turn on in October, it’s already there, sitting close to my heart all year long. This month just gives it a name.
What Pink Really Means to Me
Pink isn’t just a color to me anymore. It’s the color of the friends I’ve watched fight really fight with a strength I don’t know if I could summon myself. It’s the color of the ones who are still in the ring today, still showing up, still calling themselves warriors because that’s exactly what they are. And it’s the color of the friends I’ve lost. The ones this disease took from me, from their families, from this world too soon. So when October comes around and everything goes pink, I feel it differently than maybe I used to. It’s not a marketing color for me. It’s a memory, a prayer, and a promise, all wrapped into one.
Stacking for a Reason
This is why “Stack Your Story” has always meant more to me than a tagline. Every piece we make carries a story — and this month, our pink pieces carry theirs. The friends who never stopped fighting. The ones we lost far too soon. The families who kept showing up at every appointment, every treatment, every hard day in between. This October, we’re donating a percentage of every pink piece to Stand Up To Cancer. Because awareness matters, but action matters more. Research matters more. Finding a cure matters more.
Stack Together
I don’t think any of us get through something like this alone, not the people fighting, and not the people who love them. That’s the whole idea behind stacking, really. One piece on its own is beautiful, but stacked together, it becomes something bigger. A story. A team. A promise that nobody’s wrist, and nobody’s fight, has to stand alone. So this month, I hope you’ll stack a little pink into your own story. Wear it for someone you love. Wear it for someone you lost. Wear it because we are not done fighting until there’s a cure. Stack together. Fight together. Never stop.
In Loving Memory
This post is dedicated to my beautiful friend, Lisa Hunt Dietrich, who lost her battle to this dreadful disease last year. Lisa, your light, your strength, and your spirit stay with me every single day. This fight and every pink piece we make carries a little piece of you in it. I miss you, and I will never stop stacking in your honor.
With love and gratitude,
Elyse
